HOW YOU PRESENT YOURSELF ON THE OUTSIDE REFLECTS HOW YOU FEEL ON THE INSIDE

in #life5 years ago (edited)

There is a famous saying that “The face is the index of the mind” . This means that whatever emotion we feel on the inside is reflected by our expression on the outside. If one conducts himself in a very vulgar or inappropriate manner then he would be criticized for having a bad mindset. One’s conduct holds great significance as it becomes the basis of what others can expect from him.

Stephen Hawking had wisely said that:

“While physics and mathematics may tell us how the universe began, they are not much use in predicting human behavior because there are far too many equations to solve. I'm no better than anyone else at understanding what makes people tick, particularly women.”

Two Personalities:

If we take the example of two personalities we would be able to clearly understand how this phenomena occurs.

Example 1

If we take the example of a man, being inappropriately dressed and through his speech one could tell what sort of mindset he possesses. His speech being sloppy, filled with abuse for others, criticism and bad humor, then it would be believed that such a man does not and could not have a decent personality for the way he has projected himself in society clearly indicates that he does not have a decent mind set. Ultimately he becomes the victim of society and starts being judged as a person nobody would ever want to hang out with, for it is not in their personality to “Corrupt” themselves, or so they believe.

Analysis

Now if we closely diagnose this person, we come to a conclusion that the people belonging to this category tells what kind of background the person belongs to. These sort of people usually grow up under difficult situations, they might have a difficult childhood, or are probably raised in bad company. It would clearly be unfair to point fingers before understanding the situation clearly. But the problem arises due to the fact that society has no intentions of checking someone else’s past unless it is to be either mocked upon or gained profit from. Thus we are born in a cruel world.

Example 2

Now if we move towards the second example, if we take the example of a person who is tidy, the way he conducts himself, the fluency and impact of his words form the basis of which it is determines that such a person has a very honest and pure mind set. It is the way he behaves, the respect he gives to his elders, his companions and everyone around him, his presence when anyone needs him, the burden he helps others carry prove that such a man could never possess a bad mindset.

It was wisely said by David Letterman:

“There is only one requirement of any of us, and that is to be courageous. Because courage, as you might know, defines all other human behavior. And, I believe - because I've done a little of this myself - pretending to be courageous is just as good as the real thing.”

Emotions rather than Personality describe you:

But, there are times when one does not feel happy about his situation, and the frustration disrupts his daily activities, he starts lagging in his work. He fails to do any of his tasks. He starts to become stubborn. His whole perfect personality comes crashing down, and people are left to wonder what happened to their pure personality. The fact that emotions matter proves that if a man is internally satisfied then he can become the best person available. So it does not matter what personality or background one belongs to, as long as he is internally satisfied he can be externally productive.

Conclusion:

In the end, it is useless to determine people by what they look or seem to be, if one carefully ponders on their background and helps with whatever what bothers them then it would only benefit both of them instead of only one. So it is true that how we present ourselves proves what kind of emotions we hold in our hearts.

According to Philip Zimbardo:

“That human behavior is more influenced by things outside of us than inside. The 'situation' is the external environment. The inner environment is genes, moral history, religious training.”
