RE: Computational kindness

in #life7 years ago

Presented in that way, computational thinking is an obvious natural continuation of the project of analytic philosophy - to solve (or dissolve) all problems using logic.

Since this approach seems to be to maximise the expressed preferences of the individual, it does seem to favour a particularly utilitarian perspective on what's good. Do you think computational morality could be applied to other notions of ethical behaviour? Is there an algorithmic approach to treating people as ends in themselves rather than means to an end? There would certainly be room for computational enhancement of virtue ethics, in the form of an app to aid the cultivation of good character traits (if someone hasn't done this already).

Lots to think about, thanks for the interesting read.
