Are You Overwhelmed?
Slow down and everything you are chasing will come around and catch you. - JOHN DE PAOLA
Ever have a day where you feel like life is crashing down on you? Feeling like your whole world just turned upside down? You have started asking the "why me” question more often?
Well, if your answer is “No”, then good for you… But if the answer is “Yes” my friend, may be you are Overwhelmed!
I know it is not easy sometimes to find your way out of those moments but this overwhelmed feeling is the worst feeling in the world. Have your ever thought about the reason?
It can occur for a wide variety of reasons like:
Bunch of little things are hitting you all at once!
- Anxiety!
- Depression!
- Want to talk, but no one to talk to!
- Lonely and have no friends!
- Nothing is going according to plan!
- It’s hard to breathe!
- Digestion issues!
- Or any other reason…!!
The main question here is “My World is crashing down, what I can do to help myself?
You can do a lot of stuff to get out of this feeling. Here are several tips for overcoming this problem:
Find Distraction
I know, in this situation it is difficult to distract yourself, but you would need to find something to distract yourself. Go for a movie, pick up your phone and talk to your loved ones.
Talk to a friend
Let your friend know about your situation. Share your thoughts... And ask for help, it is not a sign of weakness. We can all do so much more together : )
Meditation & Yoga
It is a powerful practice, people use yoga to manage emotional problems. It relieves stress and reduces muscle tension. Choose a time of day when you're able to meditate, sit with good posture & relax, Close your eyes, breathe naturally and focus your attention on the breath.
Go for a walk
It may sound silly, as you walk everyday and still have anxiety… Well, fresh air is better for you. If your body feels better, so does your mind. Brisk walking boosts endorphins, which can reduce stress hormones and alleviate mild depression.
Positive self talk
I believe strongly in self talk as it has a great impact on your confidence. Tell yourself you are doing the best you can. Motivate yourself.
STOP self-criticism
A little self-criticism is a good thing but do not overdo it as excessive criticism tends to backfire. So there is a difference between “I need to lose 15 pounds,” and “I look like a hippopotamus.”
Jot down everything that is in your mind
Grab a pen and a piece of paper, and start writing down everything that is in your mind. Don’t care about the structure, editing etc. Just keep on writing. Have an idea? Brain storm on the paper. Want to buy something? List them out.
Please feel free to share more tips with us all. And remember, there is always a new beginning, and you can rewrite the story of your life. Just relax and keep loving your family, friends and YOURSELF!
