The Frozen Village.
Oymyakon village!
I have been scrolling down my social media feeds yesterday and one video caught my attention. The video was about the Oymyakon Village, the coldest village in the WORLD! It is a remote Siberian village, and is known as one of the places considered the Northern Pole of Cold.
The village’s temperature this winter has dropped to -62 C, you heard that right -62 C and people still manage to walk to school & work!!! (Here in Lahore Pakistan, the temperature hits 5 degrees and I felt like my nose would be snapped off.
Oymyakon River, whose name reportedly comes from the Even word kheium, meaning "unfrozen patch of water; place where fish spend the winter. The interesting thing is, the water in the Oymyakon River does not freeze. I mean the whole village is covered in ice but the water won’t freeze.
Frostbite (injury caused by freezing of the skin and underlying tissues) is a constant danger in this area. Over the weekend, two men froze to death when they tried to walk to a nearby farm after their car broke down.
Mercury in the thermometer freezes! Wanna see a snow cloud? Just splash the boiling water into the air.
June and July are the only months where the temperature has never dropped below −10 °C (14 °F). The village has a population of about 500 people and life is pretty normal there.
Looks like a winter wonderland to me!!!
This is the place I would like to visit (For couple of hours only :P).
...i wish i could visit that place someday,i want to experience walking in the snow...
Yeah, it's beautiful :)
