Don't Let Your Own Mind Be Your Biggest Enemy

in #life5 years ago

Intelligence is what sets us apart from every other species on the planet. In that way, we are quite unique. We have used our intelligence to establish an entire civilization by colonizing the entire planet.

We have achieved marvels and made what seemed impossible into a possible reality. Today, we can talk to anyone on the planet with a tap on a device that we carry around in our pockets. We can travel to other planets and learn about the deepest secrets of the universe.

Everything that we have managed to achieve is because of our intelligence. However, most of us (if not all) have experienced the destructive capabilities of the human mind. And I'm not talking about the tendency to kill each other. I'm talking about our tendency to kill ourselves, from the inside.

Many times in life, our own mind can end up becoming our biggest enemy. This usually happens during periods of pain and suffering. If we don't learn to control it, it can create a hellish life!

Control Your Mind

When we are in a bad situation, our minds like to think about it over and over again in the hopes of finding a solution. But what we end up doing is inflating the problem artificially. It starts appearing much worse than it actually is.

It is also this pesky overthinking that makes us question ourselves. For example, if your loved one leaves you, you might start overthinking and start believing that you are not good enough. You might start thinking that you don't look good or lack specific skills.

Whatever the brain does after a really tough situation, it does so to protect ourselves and to find possible solutions. We just let it run for much longer than it should. The result is that we start killing ourselves from the inside. We lose our happiness and peace.

This is a really sad state to be in. If you could just control your mind and use it to find solutions peacefully, you would be living a much happier life. So, how do you do it? How do you control this powerful machinery?

Well, there are several ways and you must find what works for you. I have found that for me, meditation, music, tv shows, etc. help quite a lot. Keep the mind busy in something else and it won't dwell on what is hurting you.

In my country there is a saying "si tien arreglo se arreglará, si non lu tien arreglao ta", which in english means "if it has a solution it will be solved, if it hasn't forget about it"

Thank you for your wisdom. :-)

That is such a nice saying!! I love it. Thank you for sharing it :)
