So IS GUILT GOOD OR BAD FOR US?
When it comes to emotional health, there isn't necessarily any such thing as a good or bad feeling. All of our emotions like guilt comprise the most primitive part of our brain.
Guilt has evolved to help us make choices to stay safe in the world. The problem is that our emotional operating system and how we embrace guilt in today’s world doesn’t gel well together.
Like anger and jealousy, it’s hard to address and feel guilt.
Guilt can also be contradictory and irrational. You accept the fact that you make mistakes, but you also want to be perfect and please everyone. You can’t have such double standards and expect to be emotionally happy.
Just understanding guilt and it’s aspects can be highly advantageous and bring you one step closer to overcoming the negative feelings you have associated with it.
REMEMBER THIS, "When guilt is fueled by irrational beliefs and other unhealthy emotions, like shame and embarrassment, is putting you down and not leading to productive behaviour, is preventing you from focusing on the present, leaving you locked in the past, IT IS UNHEALTHY”.
Learning how to recognise, understand, acknowledge and reflect on guilt is a healthy way of dealing with guilt, can be a great with to forgive yourself and learn how to move on.
No longer will you feel trapped by shame and embarrassment, instead you will learn to develop remorse and ultimately learn how to forgive yourself.
You will also learn how to stay positive by making positive affirmations, become confident about your emotions and a stronger person overall! For a full tutorial on making positive affirmations, WATCH THIS :
