RE: Another day, another mass shooting -- and we're back to "business as usual" in America
looking at this from the perspective of a Canadian where there are strict gun laws. They don't completely stop crimes with guns but somehow they do contribute toward reducing the number of mass shootings like our southern neighbours experience.
Assault weapons which can rapid fire have no real use in the hands of the average citizen. I found it astounding that one lone gunman could murder 8 people and wound so many more in a reported 30 seconds between him starting and law enforcement killing him.
Another 30 seconds and he could have been inside the establishment he was trying to enter and killed that many more. No one needs that kind of firepower.
There is a fundamental issue to start with in that the perpetrator finds himself able to reach the point of picking that weapon up with the purpose of killing. Whatever shapes that mindset needs to be somehow found and addressed. Making it too easy to carry out the act invites more
