Opiate Withdrawal Guide Line
I was a heroin addict for about 2 years, it was hell. It took me awhile to realize all the time i had lost to that drug when i hit rock bottom, becoming homeless at the age of 19 begging for money on the streets just so i wouldn't become sick which i feared more then death to be honest. In one day it all changed, rejected by my family and friends for being the addict i was a couple with a past history of substance abuse took me in strangely. They helped me detox and it wasn't easy but it wasn't as bad as i feared and the couple with there past history passed onto me the knowledge of how to ease the process. It took a little over a week to feel remotely normal and i couldn't believe i was at that stage weeks go by and to this day i am a year clean, have own place and a steady job, all thanks to those compassionate people how sheltered me, provided me with knowledge on how to beat the sickness and get back onto my feet. So i want to provide the knowledge and compassion they did to help those others who are stuck in that cycle of chasing a hit.
First of all tapering will never work scrap that completely from your mind.
See a doctor and explain your situation he will most likely will provide medicines such as Valium, Clonidine, Anti-diarrhea, ibuprofen and anti vomiting medication.
Cut lose all those involved with heroin, you need to move forward and if they aren't moving forward you have to leave them behind.
Stay away from alcohol or any other substances it will make your withdrawal worse particularly alcohol
Finally a strong will to leave that old life style behind
Now that that check list has been fulfilled use those medications wisely the Valium will really help calm you, reduce anxiety and even help you get a wink of sleep. But you cannot abuse it or else it will just make it harder on your process.
Ibuprofen is very under looked. those cold sweat type feverish symptoms can be eliminated by 800mg of ibuprofen
Still you will sweat a lot, change sheets regularly. Hot showers and baths feel absolutely amazing when withdrawing AND will help if you're still having hot and cold sweats even after the ibuprofen. The Clonidine really is under looked too when you're withdrawing your blood pressure will be through the roof this will help with that and even have a calming effect. Don't attempt to contact people how drink or do substances because it will tempt you. Remember to take the anti-diarrhea and anti vomiting medication because you will puke from both ends if not. Lastly you really need the will to quit, you your self need to want to quit, not for some one else or a partner for YOU. If you last a week the worst of the worst physical symptoms should be mostly disappearing and a piece of your old self should be returning. Now the rest of the time it's more a mental challenge, testing your will. Fight for your future, fight for your freedom over your body.
God bless and stay safe.
