Utroba Cave (The womb) - a route to the mysteries of the Mother Goddess

The unique temple is located about 20 km away from Kardjali Bulgaria, in the rocky
Tangarak Kaya. There are some of the largest complexes of Thracian niches in the
Eastern Rhodopes Mountain.

The Womb Cave was opened in April 2001. The visitor is shocked because the entrance
is shaped like a vulva.

Inside the cave is with a depth of 22 m.
The scientists proved that the cavity was originally a karst and only 16 m deep.
The human hand has continued and carved it like a female womb, on the walls of
which water is constantly flowing. An altar symbolizing the uterus is carved in the
inner south end of the cave. The height of the hole is 3 meters, and the width is
about 2.50 meters, with enough light to penetrate inside.

Just at noon through a deliberately cut slit in the ceiling penetrates a solar ray that is projected onto the floor. A perfectly formed solar phallus is formed, which gradually increases and excites to the uterine altar.

But only at a certain time of year when the sun is
low in the north, it may be long enough to symbolically fertilize the womb.
Accordin to the calculations those months are January and February. In this cave temple,
the culmination of the Orphic (from Orpheus) beliefs took place.

According to the ancient authors,
in such an Orphic temple on the island of Samothraki, dedicated unmarried men
performed their sexual rites with the Thracian girls. In the vicinity of the cave-womb,
the Perpereshka River springs, and Perperikon is about 20 km downstream.

How to get to the Utroba (Womb) Cave?

First you need to go to Bulgaria.

The nearest city is Kardjali, situated in the South-East part of the country

I went there several times last year during the summer time.

I was lucky to meet a real monk there. He was the keeper of the cave. I went through an ancient thracian rebirth ritual guided by the monk.

The ritual symbolizes the process of birth. During the ritual the person sings in a particular way (the keeper of the cave helps of course) so to make the cave resonate.

The cave sings. In the end, the person makes huge and dangerous step (I would call it a jump) on a rock outside the entrance and screems "I was born". The mountain echo repeets the screem.

No other experience like this. The monk says this ritual reloads you with the power of a new born. That cave keeper's name is Vladimir Ovsyannikov. He is russian and he has been in most of the powerful spiritual places of the world.

His life is so interesting, that a man shall search different sources for that. He lives a life obeying nature's laws and rules. He is the most extraordinary man I've ever met.

If you go to Bulgaria, do not miss this place! Along with the 90 minutes mountain walk, you will feel the power of the Life.

And the most important thing - you will feel the power of creation. It doesn't matter how sensitive you are. It doesn't matter you believe in some powers outside youself. You will be definately a bit different on the way back, thinking of what you've just felt, trying to understand it and to find an explaination for yourself.
