Caminata a Las Antenas de Loma Lisa, Aragua (Venezuela) / Hike to Las Antenas of Loma Lisa, Aragua (Venezuela)

Por la ciudad de La Victoria, estado Aragua, en el centro de Venezuela, existe un lugar del que había escuchado hablar muchas veces, se llama Loma Lisa y es famoso porque allí se han realizado desde hace años campeonatos nacionales e internacionales de parapente e ícaro.

In the city of La Victoria, Aragua state, in the center of Venezuela, there is a place that I had heard about many times, it is called Loma Lisa and it's famous because there have been national and international paragliding and icarus championships there for years.

Eso sí, no tenía mucha idea de dónde quedaba exactamente hasta que un día me enteré por redes sociales que la alcaldía de esta ciudad estaba convocando a una caminata hacia allá. Inmediatamente me inscribí junto a mi hermana y unos amigos.

I didn't have much idea where it was exactly until one day I found out on social media that the mayor of this city was calling for an excursion there. I immediately signed up with my sister and some friends.

Loma Lisa queda al sureste de La Victoria y se llega por la carretera hacia la zona de Guacamaya, un poblado rural, aunque también hay caminos alternativos como el que nosotros tomamos el día de la excursión.

Loma Lisa is to the southeast of La Victoria and is reached by the road to the Guacamaya area, a rural town, although there are also alternative roads like the one we took on the day of the excursion.

Era sábado y el día estaba súper soleado. El punto de encuentro fue el peaje de La Victoria a las 7:00 de la mañana, esperamos una media hora para que llegaran todos los inscritos y comenzamos la caminata metiéndonos por un sendero de tierra que pasaba debajo de un puente cerca del peaje.

It was Saturday and the day was super sunny. The meeting point was the La Victoria tollbooth at 7:00 in the morning, we waited half an hour for all those registered to arrive and we began the walk by taking a dirt path that passed under a bridge near the tollbooth.

El paisaje de este valle es muy bonito, no sabía que había caseríos y sembradíos por allí.

The landscape of this valley is very beautiful, I didn't know that there were farmhouses and fields there.

No hubo sombra en casi ningún tramo de esta ruta, afortunadamente teníamos nuestras gorras y bastante agua, y si se nos acababa la hidratación los organizadores tenían para darnos cuando llegáramos a la zona de Guacamaya.

There was no shade in almost any section of this route, fortunately we had our caps and plenty of water, and if we ran out of hydration the organizers had to give us when we got to the Guacamaya area.

Atravesamos las montañas aunque las subidas no eran muy fuertes, cuando llegamos a Guacamaya después de unas dos horas y media, tuvimos una espléndida vista de La Victoria y nos dimos cuenta de que sí que habíamos caminado jejeje.

We crossed the mountains although the climbs were not very strong, when we reached Guacamaya after about two and a half hours, we had a splendid view of La Victoria and we realized that we had indeed walked hehehe.

Aún faltaban unos 4 km para llegar a Las Antenas de Loma Lisa, allí sí se puso un poco fuerte la subida, en total nos dijeron que la ruta era de poco más de 16 Km. Aproximadamente a las 11:00 de la mañana llegamos a nuestra meta.

There were still about 4 km to go to reach Las Antenas (The Antennas) of Loma Lisa, there the climb did get a bit steep, in total they told us that the route was just over 16 km. At approximately 11:00 in the morning we arrived at our goal.

¡Es un lugar impresionante! Las vistas que tiene hacia los hermosos valles de Aragua te dejan con la boca abierta. Al llegar había un montón de frutas y jugos que los organizadores llevaron para todos los participantes de la caminata, así que nos refrescamos y nos tiramos al suelo a descansar un rato.

It is an impressive place! The views it has towards the beautiful valleys of Aragua leave you with your mouth open. Upon arrival there were a lot of fruits and juices that the organizers brought for all the participants of the walk, so we freshen up and lay down on the ground to rest for a while.

Allí vimos las enormes antenas y el amplio despegadero desde donde se lanzan los que practican parapente e ícaro, como dije al inicio, Loma Lisa tiene excelentes condiciones para este deporte, sobre todo en la modalidad de cross country y ha sido escenario de muchas competencias con pilotos de todo el mundo.

There we saw the huge antennas and the wide take-off from where those who practice paragliding and Icarus launch, as I said at the beginning, Loma Lisa has excellent conditions for this sport, especially in the cross country modality (distance flights) and it has been scene of many competitions with pilots from all over the world.

Además de los valles de Aragua pudimos observar la ciudad de La Victoria, poblaciones como El Consejo, el embalse de Zuata y las lindas montañas.

In addition to the valleys of Aragua, we were able to observe the city of La Victoria, towns such as El Consejo, the Zuata reservoir and the beautiful mountains.

Por aquí también vienen muchas personas a entrenar, como por ejemplo corredores y ciclistas.

Many people also come here to train, such as runners and cyclists.

El regreso fue relajado porque bajamos primero en un camión de la alcaldía desde Loma Lisa hasta Guacamaya y luego allí tomamos un autobús hasta el centro de La Victoria. Definitivamente este lugar superó mis expectativas, la pasamos muy bien ese día conociendo un sitio nuevo y sorprendente en medio de la naturaleza.

The return was relaxed because we first got off in a city hall truck from Loma Lisa to Guacamaya and then there we took a bus to the center of La Victoria. This place definitely exceeded my expectations, we had a great time that day getting to know a new and surprising place in the middle of nature.
