Student Mom tips! OWC - Day 1

in #life7 years ago (edited)

As I feel the cool weather moving in, I feel anxious for the things that have been pushed to the side and left undone, but I'm also excited for the changes I have made to settle in and take hold. I'm six weeks into the semester and I'm having a lot of fun! However, developing a new schedule that will keep my studies in line, do housework, work on my business, and allow me to homeschool Gavin is one that seems to be an elusive beast, but I'm perfecting it daily. Here are some tricks that I have learned for any student moms or busy students:

  1. Plan, plan, plan- Assess the class you're in immediately for due dates and plan out study time and time you need to work on assignments.

  2. Audio!- Being a busy mom who cannot just sit and look at the mess in my house, I find that listening to lectures on the subject I am studying really helps me gain a broader understanding of the subject. YouTube has many lectures from Ivy league colleges available for free.

  3. Powerful multivitamin and B-12 - This should speak for itself. B-12 gives my brain the jumpstart it needs to tackle College Lit and Little Red Ridinghood in the same day. ;)

Aside from the physical actions you can take, a great way to succeed in any goal is to use manifestation and mindfulness to your advantage. Using affirmations such as: "I know I'm a good student and will succeed in these studies." or "Being an older student gives me an advantage."

Sorry for getting off-topic, but I do spend my Sunday nights planning, so that's where my mind is. I'm looking forward to the rest of this month and accomplishing my goals!

Til tomorrow,
Jess
