Welcome to the 6th post of the Wolf Motivation series!

In the following days, you will see motivational quotes which will hopefully inspire you to take action towards your goals.

My aim is to inspire you to take actions towards your goals which you postpone on a regular basis.

Life is short and I don't want anyone to look back in regret.

( Comment what do you want to begin but keep postponing nowadays? )

We have talked about now being the best time to begin what you want. But why now?

It all comes down to the dangerous perception of "later" or more commonly used "Tomorrow". I'll do it later and tomorrow are probably your absolute worst enemies. Here is why...

How many times did you start something, reading a book, cleaning the basement, painting the fences etc... only to stop with the smallest of inconvenience? Then you say "Oh never mind, I'll finish it later..." There! You must stop yourself right there. If you stop now you probably won't start again for a looong time, assuming you will try to finish it at all.

But why does our future self deserve so much trust? Are they better than us? Do they have more patience? Or are we just thinking it will be less painful in the future? My answers are: No, No, No and Yes. Your future self will probably not be any of that so by definition you are screwing yourself over.

Our brains are hardwired to seek instant pleasure and to avoid what is causing pain and stress in that moment. In our primitive times, this made sense. Avoid pain, seek comfort and pleasure, that's how you survived. So, when you are faced with a "boring task" your primitive brain tries to take control like a mad man.

Your job is to notice that you are just delaying that pain. So please just get over with it. You already began the task. All your tools and the current focus is there. You just have to tap into that initial motivation and finish that task.

One tip is to tell yourself: I'll work on this 5 more minutes and I'm done" trust me that 5-minute start is all you need to get you going.

The worst part is the mental energy wasted on a task that could be done in 10 minutes. I don't think it's better to stress about an unfinished task for a week than just getting over with it in 10 minutes.

The takeaway is that, it's better done now than to wait tomorrow. Because it might never get done and you might be wasting mental energy on that simple task.

I hope this will give you a boost of motivation for the time being.
