Is not showering everyday really that bad for you?

Recently, me and my friend were having a friendly conversation, until he brought up the question how often do you shower? I thought to myself do I tell it to him straight that I shower once every two days or lie and say that I shower every day to meet the societal standards. I decided to tell him the truth, because you know what could go wrong. We exchanged looks for about 3 seconds then acting as it was the most startling thing he could ever hear, he screamed out "What the hell??". I in return acted startled as if he had never heard anyone else say that. From that point on, we went into a full on debate on if its disgusting to shower twice a day. The reason I said i don't shower everyday was that I didn't feel the need to shower everyday as i don't do vigorous activities. But as I researched the real reason on why showering everyday isn't as good as people may think, I learned that showering removes the good bacteria we need. I learned that showering too much dries out your skin and hair. You are also wasting time that you are showering everyday and all that time adds up big time! And most of all, you're wasting water that you don't really need to be wasting, because the average family of 4 wastes about 400 gallons a day. Just thought I would make this so the next time you hear someone say they shower every once in a while it gets you thinking/ or if you do shower every once in a while no need to think its weird or bad.

I agree completely. Your skin produces oil and hair that protect it from drying out and keep you from being sick. Sure if you engage in physical labor, it's especially hot out, or you have an issue with sweat, you should shower more often. Overall, however, showering more than 2-3 times a week is actually bad for you.

Thanks for your opinion!
