Hello! Welcome to Steemit!

In order to prevent identity theft we like to encourage users that have an online identity, post for a website or blog, and celebrities of all notoriety to verify themselves. Verified users tend to receive a better reception from the community.

Verification can be as simple as posting to your website or blog. If you use twitter or facebook, you can also create a tweet or post there. For our easily recognizable Steemians, a photo with you holding a piece of paper with the time & date will suffice.

    One example:

    Sitting on the tailgate of my Tacoma, holding my head in my hands, Steve asked me why I ride motocross. He said, if you don’t have any fun, why are you doing this? Quite a time to bring up this subject and honestly, the first thing that spewed out of my mouth wasn’t really thought through. “I don’t ride for fun”, I said in a pretentious and arrogant way with a demeanor of a 13 year old boy who’s parents were about to put him in a time out. Steve of course, being the gentlemen that he is, rebutted in a calm manor, searching for the truth instead of a statement full of emption. I didn’t have anything else to say, I don’t have a solid answer, nor at the time could I think of one besides, “this is something I want to do, its just another hurtle in my life”. Not a good enough reason for Steve.

          80,000 square foot garage. But that didn't stop the whales from upvoting first with no verification. I think we are getting a pretty clear picture of what is going on with a lot of accounts on Steemit.
