FOCUS ON SKILL DEVELOPMENT AS A MUSICIAN AND AS A PERSON

FOCAL SCRIPTURE: 1 John 2:20 "But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge." (ESV)
■ The role of the "keyboardist" is to provide harmonization and accompaniment.
■ The role of the "drummer" is to superintend over the rhythmic organization of the song.
■ The role of the "bassist" is to provide the melodic bottom of the harmony/accompaniment.
Believe it or not, what we call "the anointing" is nothing near what it is. The anointing is not those goose bumps or chills down your spine -- CALM DOWN!
● Don't you ever think that the flowing sound of the strings is more anointed than the sound of the piano.
● Don't you ever be fooled into believing that singing indigenous songs bring down the presence of God more than foreign songs.
Peter was a fisherman and Paul was a doctor at law and we know how far the same anointing took both of them.
An anointed pianist that's playing extended chords in a church where the audience are accustomed to triads will be labelled as an empty musician who lacks the anointing.
Now, take that same anointed pianist to another audience that is accustomed to sophisticated harmony and you'll appreciate the anointing of God upon his life.
Dear anointed musician,
▪ You need skill same way a plumber, electrician, carpentar does.
▪ You need skill to play an instrument and then the anointing to set you apart from other men of skill.Believe it or not, with all the anointing, if the rules governing pitch and rhythm are despised, that atmosphere of worship, word, and warfare that we love to bask in will be far from reality.
You already have the anointing, but it is NOT substitute for skill.
