A habit is something that a person does often and almost without thinking, knowing it or making efforts. Some examples of habits are lateness, punctuality, eating style, watching the television, buying things on credit borrowing, bitting one's fingers, staring at the opposite sex, quiteness, talkativeness, frowning, smoking, drinking etc

A habit may be good or bad. However, what is important to note is that a habit is very easy to form but difficult to break. Old habits die hard! One finds oneself doing that thing but extremely hard to stop doing it. There is an urgent need to break a bad, irritating or harmful habit before it breaks the person.

Prevention is always better than cure. It is a lot easier to assist a child in overcoming a bad habit with it's harmful effects at the early stage than when the habit has been deep-rooted in the life of the child. We should endeavor to stop the habit of doing what will negatively affect us later in life. In fact, better it is for a bad or harmful habit not to be formed in the first place than finding a way to break it later.

However it's never too late to stop an old bad habit.
