RE: Rules For Success Ft. Steve Jobs

Albert Einstein said that everyone is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life thinking that it’s stupid. Rather than imitate and emulate we can actually create a unique occupation, a unique service to the world, a unique offering that can actually drive the difference in other people’s lives.

I interpret this statement differently. I think trying to do something that is far outside your natural skill set, interests, etc is analogous to the fish climbing the tree.

It's true to say that, and what I mean to help understand by quoting Albert Einstein is just like the fish that can't climb a tree, we should not imitiate and emulate others by trying to live life like others do. Rather, we should stick to what we are great at and grow our skills and knowledge as widely as we can in the field of choice. Otherwise, it would be the equivalent of a pilot trying to be a surgeon, or a doctor trying to be a lawyer (or a fish climbing a tree)
