Zen, Cows, Converse and Bucking Horses

The irony of life is oftentimes overshadowed by our predispositions towards what we 'know' for certain. It is easy to wander through life and 'know' exactly who we are and what exactly everything else is. So easy, most people will never realize that a better life could be hiding around the very corner that they are afraid to look around.

However erroneous this may seem...it's incredibly easy to fall into this category of people.

The majority of my last 6 years has been dedicated to cows and horses. Contrary to popular belief, most ranchers and cowboy's alike revere animal husbandry, and are some of the most humane people I have ever come across. Humane not only if their treatment of animals, but the genuine acceptance of the chaos of life.

The art of ranching is a constantly changing plan, and cows will make liars out of you quicker than a speeding ticket. Cows closely resemble an oftentimes somber picture of society itself. Cows move with the herd, stick with a group, and react to pressures that they themselves scarcely recognize. But no matter how much you may claim to know every aspect of a cow's brain, you can never see every obstacle impeding their journey, and refusing to accept this fact undoubtedly results in unnecessary exhaustion on your part.

The cowboy's who enjoy their lives are the ones that accept many of the principles affiliated with groups of people who are often seen as a stark contrast to the ranching lifestyle. this is the beginning of several blogs that shed further light on the connections between cows and enlightenment.
