THE VISIT TO THE HIDDEN LAKES!! TRAVELLER#1 DAY 1
I AM GOING TO REPEAT MY PREVIOUS POST DUE TO SOME ERRORS, PLEASE BARE WITH ME!
Hi guys, here I am goin to take you step by step through the GREAT and hidden lakes in kashmir.
Very few people have been here and i am going to take you guys along with me through the journey filled with adventure, nature, terror, fun, beauty and much more than words can express.
Let me tell you about all the essentials that you will need to do trip.
First things first, we will be travelling 14000 feet above sea level and there are some very important things you will have to carry.
1) Always have enough warm clothes, we went in the month of july-august, it was the time when it was warm (temperature ranging from 0-6 degree celcius) . A sweater, thermals, A cap that can cover your ears is a must, also a cowboy hat will be good to keep you away from the heat of the sun.
2) Have good quality grippy shoes (we had the ones from quechua, colombia is better), as there will be steep inclines to climb on rocky mountains.
3) Have a couple litres of water always, YOU will NEED it.
4) A rucksack will be the best way to carry your luggage as trolly bags will be difficult to move around in the mud and ice.
5) A good quality camera will be very helpful to click images of raw nature at its best.
These lakes are situated in Kashmir, in India.
the nearest airport is SRINAGAR which is close to 100 kms away from the base camp in SONMARG, from where we will be starting our journey for 7 days through the mountains, away from civilization.
The only transport through these mountains is by walk or horse so make sure you are fit enough to walk a total of 90 kms in 7 days or rent a horse.
THE place is closed from OCTOBER TO APRIL AS THERE WILL BE HEAVY SNOW FALL UPTO 10 FEET HIGH.
LET ME BEGIN.
DAY ONE
I had to fly from BANGALORE to DELHI and DELHI to SRINAGAR for a total of 6 hours.
Below is a small glimpse of the journey, do enjoy.
BREAKFAST IN BANGALORE AIRPORT, the only veg sandwich that they had was this!
I am sure some will like it! (not really)
Here is a view from my seat on the plane.
A GIF for you.
Those beautiful clouds!
I reached srinagar in the evening at 5 so there was not much i could do, but to go to a good hotel and rest for the day.
I have to give you a few friendly suggestions.
- There is no mobile network anywhere around kashmir, except for BSNL post paid and AIRTEL at some places.
- Make sure you dont carry any explosives (lol).
- There are many people waiting to fool you in every way possible, i will tell you about it all in detail in my next post so stay tuned guys which will include a lot of exciting photographs.
