My early years
I was the first to emerge in what would be a family of five children and a love child at that as this was before my parents took their vows in church which may have been particularly awkward for my mom, I have never delved into the issue with her, for she is a reverend’s daughter. It may have been because traditional when your first baby is masculine child it is always seen as a blessing to the mother as he is seen an heir and will propagate the parental family name.
Both my parents were pretty young with my mother barely out of her teens and so my upbringing was partly shared with my grandmother and younger aunts as my parent when about establishing themselves in their various careers with my father, who excelled in marketing and economics at the university, later landing employment with various major foreign multinational firms in the country at that time.
My early years were thus largely influenced by the matriarch side on my family and they can trace back directly their ancestry to the time when it was them who were the dominate force in society. Religion also played a big part during those years with my maternal grandfather who later retired as a canon in the church having a lasting influence.
