Hakuna Matata

Meet the meerkats of the Kalahari! At Jack’s Camp in Botswana, I got to hang out with these little cuties! As a tourist, I am very cautious about human interaction with wild animals. These animals are completely wild— as they should be— but have been habituated, meaning their behavior is not affected by the presence of humans. They have come to see us as part of their normal habitat— not as a threat. While you should never touch them, they might not respect the same of you lol! With the guidance of a game ranger and meerkat researcher, I simply sat down and these guys ran right up to the top of my head as if I were no different than a termite mound!
