DO OUR CHOICES MATTER?
I wonder a lot about the choices we make, the outcomes of these choices, direct and indirect, in the long and short term.
Too many times i watch a movie and curse out whenever an actor makes an obviously wrong decision before shortly concluding such choices can only be made in movies.
Real life haven’t been some much different though, we as humans tend to jump into wrong decisions when we know for sure there are better options.
Studies have shown that regardless of stats and numbers people choose what they want over what is best. Lately I’ve begun wondering if it’s we who actually make these choices.
Often overlooked is the options we have to choose from. I’ve studied and observed patterns of lifestyles and wonder if the choices we make are really ours or was decided for us long ago by those who run us.
Life doesn’t actually gives us a choice, it chooses for us and makes it appear like it was our choice. The schools we attend, friends we keep, our type of lifestyle are decided by what life gives us.
Being born into a particular family, in a specific neighbourhood provides you with a set of options that you pick from and that determines the rest of your life, the friends you mingle with and the opportunities you come across.
We are basically placed in orbits that we hover within from the our first breath till our last, all we might or might never be,depends on what is contained in our orbits, the choices we make out of the limited options we were given. We don’t get to pick our race, gender, size, we don’t even get to decide if we are comfortable with what we were given.
True, quantum leaps and drops happens but it’s only as a result of some talents that we were gifted or one of the limited opportunities provided in each orbit that people have to scramble for.
is this life actually a play with no script and rehearsals as we once believed? or we are merely acting out scenes and roles that have been written out long ago and we can do absolutely nothing about it.
Maybe regardless of whatever path we choose, we’ll end up at the same place. Maybe.
True, it’s we who makes the choices, but we just get to pick from the choices that have already been made.
Mama goes grocery shopping, we only get to pick from what she brings home. What she wants us to eat. It’s she who makes the choice not us.
Thanks for reading through, please give your opinion and thoughts too.

Nice writeups my friend, what you have said is absolutely true it seems the choices we make were just kept for us. It’s something really deep I guess
‘Were just keep for us to come pick it up’.
I love the way you put it.
Maybe.
Thanks for stopping by bro.
