Sorry to disagree, but what we identify as happiness and sadness and their dichotomy is simply a part of the hallucination of samsara, rife with the dualism that provides us with our titillation of dualistic constructs.
I'm doing it (I'm hallucinating I'm doing it, anyway) right now, thinking we're having a conversation, some "concrete" transaction of energy. According to everything we learn "scientifically", it's not the fundamental realm.
Then there are universes beyond this screen of samsara, and we are told it IS possible to be pure joy, but we cannot access these states while retaining our attachment to the filters provided by samsara.
