Stress
Generally,stress can be said to be an enemy and a friend. Stress is beneficial as it enables us adapt to situation and help tackle challenges. Although it may hinder performance on difficult task. A persistent overwhelming stress that is beyond our adaptive capability is an invisible disease that requires not only medical also spiritual,social,and psychological attention.
Stress can be define as a normal reaction to threat that has the potential to impair health when it exceeds the body adaptive capability.
SOURCES OF STRESS (stressors)
Stressors are agents or circumstances that causes stress.stressors vary in severity and duration.for a situation or an event to be a stressor for an individual, the person must see the situation or event as threatening and lack the ability to contain or cope with it effectively. What is a stressor for one may not be stressful for another.

-Financial constraints
-Physical injuries and emotional
-Environmental problems (fuel scarcity,lack of power and pollution)
-Accommodation problems
-Transportation problems
-Social/family/marital conflicts
MERITS OF STRESS
-Stress help signal danger and prepare us to take defensive majors
-it is commonly said that stress produce the best in people
DEMERITS OF STRESS
-When stress overwhelm the body's adaptive mechanism, it causes disharmony in the synchronous relationship between the mind and body resulting to psychological and physical disorder.
-Emotional stress for a long time can weaken the immune system.
-It causes high blood pressure
SIGNS OF STRESS
-anxiety and anger
-Inability to concentrate or complete a task
-Insomnia(lack of proper sleep)
-Withdrawal and depression
-fever
-body aches
-sweating
-reduced weight
-Loss of appetite
-Low sex drive
WAYS OF MANAGING STRESS
Since stress is inevitable, but can be improved with the way its been responded to.
-Exercises : all forms of exercises reduces stress hormones.
Relaxation : helps in calming down.
-Time management:managing time properly help reduces anxiety.we can try making plans for events or activities.
-Be realistic: do not over commit our yourself in so many functions.
-Dont self medicate: some individuals drink,smoke and abuse drugs in other to reduce stress. This only expose you to more health problems.
-therapy (talk to someone about it).
