That's so interesting that your opinions have made an about-turn. Yes I think expats and people who move about a lot have the worst of this mind-changing thing. It's hard not to be affected by the culture where you're living, so you end up like a sort of chameleon, taking on the views and opinions (and fulfilling expectations) of wherever you happen to be at the time.
