✔ Rockets, tranquility and a bird! (Original wildlife photos and thoughts)
"Houston, Tranquility base here. The Eagle has landed.”- Astronaut Armstrong
More than 50 years ago, on 20th July 1969, the history of the world was changed when Apollo 11's lunar landing module touched the moon's surface and Neil Armstrong communicated those 8 immortal words to mission control on Earth. It is a moment that all of us need to remember and cherish. It showed mankind that Space was not beyond reach and MAN was capable of conquering even the Moon!

Now you may be wondering what has this got to do with Birds and my wildlife photography!
Couple of things actually. First, I was by this lakeside on a foggy morning. The morning was calm. No one was around and everything was sooooo tranquil. As I wandered around looking for something interesting to photograph, a spot billed pelican flew in a in a fluid motion, landed on water . I managed to capture it at just the moment when it went 'feet wet' and glided on the surface of the water. I was thrilled to see the water splash captured in the photo as the pelican slid on the surface and settled down!
It was not the moon and the bird was not an eagle - but I could not help equating the calm tranquil surroundings and the touchdown I witnessed to the historic statement made at that historic moment by Neil Armstrong!
Here is the picture in full resolution with the details of the bird:
How I took the picture: As already described above, I got lucky and the pelican came in to land right in front of me. I just ensured my shutter speed was more than 2000 and clicked a series of pictures to get this interesting shot.
