Looking Back

As I look back on the past year, I do so with a certain sense of accomplishment and almost pride if that's the right word for it. Toward the end of last July, I saw the doctor; though I don't remember what for, and weighed in at a whopping 471.1 lbs. I didn't like where things were going and how I was feeling, and God knows I didn't want to let my weight get any higher so I decided to start doing something about it. That following month, on the 2nd; which happened to also be my mother's birthday, I started using the myfitnesspal app on my phone again, and started logging my caloric intake starting with a goal of 2600 calories per day. That worked great for a while, and I was able to lose probably 40lbs or so, then the dietitian and I decided it would probably be a good idea to drop my intake goal to 2000 calories per day.
From then, I lost a few more pounds, then in February of this year, I went in for an MRI at one point, and for whatever reason, I developed pneumonia and went down hill very fast. That developed into respiratory distress, which eventually escalated into acute respiratory failure.
A trip to the emergency room and 3 failed blood draws later, and as a result of them not being able to get my oxygen level to stabilize, I was taken to the hospital in Kansas City, Missouri where I spent the next 3 months getting better and recovering, and i'm still in recovery mode but continuing to improve.
As of last month, I have lost 101lbs in the past year.
On a side note, I have an appointment coming up in October to see if I can get my trach removed permanently.
