Slow to speak, Slow to anger.
A woman who was always in a fight with her husband went to meet an old sage to as for what to do to put an end to the constant brawl. The sage gave the woman a bottle filled with 'magic water' and told her to go inside to take some of the water and keep in her mouth whenever a quarrel was about to start such that when the husband complains and yells, all she did was nod and look and before long he would be calm.
This continued for a long time and there was peace in the home and this made her very happy. When the special water was about to finish, she ran to the old man thanking him for the help of bringing back peace into her home and begging him to give her some more bottles of water perhaps a very big bowl enough to last for months.
The old man laughed and told her that the bottle was filled with ordinary water and that there was no magic in it. The woman was confused, wondering how ordinary water could have solved the problem she had had for a very long time. The old man then explained to her that it was because the water made her quiet and not able to reply her husband when he was angry that brought calmness at those times.
The woman then realised that it was when she replied her husband when he was angry that the quarrel get more heated up and led to a fight. The old man then advised her to be patient and learn not to speak when things get heated up in the home and it worked for her ever after.
The average human being is filled with pride and most if not all of the time, we want to give a piece of our mind to those who talk rudely to us, try to cheat on us or rob us of our dignity. Many fights have ensued from the heated conversations or arguments that come about from the acts of claiming to be right or being the more important person some of which have led to many casualties and deaths and it is after the deeds have been done and the whole situation is being thought of that the realization which is always in regret comes that those situations could have been avoided
It is therefore important as human beings to live consciously to suppress anger, to learn to be more patient and be slow speak. It won't be easy because it wasn't what one was used to, but thinking carefully about our actions, being quick to acknowledge that we are wrong when we find ourselves giving in to our anger and immediately desisting from the actions born by anger would be a major step at developing character. Learning to genuinely say sorry when we are wrong would be another step. In doing these, the world would definitely be a better place for us all.

Self control is such a necessary recipe for peaceful living . In a world filled with angry beings you sure will be tested to the breaking point.
But then with consistent practice comes perfection.

Lol, I had to reply that message in Turkish.
You sir, deserve a medal 🏅
I think the water solution approach is underrated, a lot of time if one party can only be quiet, then there's a chance of a better and quicker resolution. Anger is just stressful
Very true. Anger is stressful and painful.
Being a Nigerian makes self-control more difficult, but with willpower it’s possible..I know this from experience..it doesn’t work all the time though, some people get angry at your silence too..sigh
Very true! One is tested every minute here in Nigeria, especially on the road.
Yes! you know what I’m talking about.
