RE: EARTH & SPACE NEWS - Solar Storm Electric Effects Across USA | News Dec.29.2018
Hi @icedrum, our power/ internet was not affected in the prairies of Canada 2 hours east of the Rocky Mountains yesterday. It's been a mild winter here so far. Just a bit of snow on the ground. Today it is -1°C it is overcast and has been for the majority of the past week. Keep up the excellent reports. Special thanks to @sallybeth23 for her resteem!
On another topic, since i see you are into the crypto market, i am wondering if there is a better way to buy Steem then through Quadriga & Blocktrades? The last two times i have purcased i feel like the fees are too significant (CAD$150 of which 100 was converted to steem and 50 went to fees, next CAD$300 of which 200 was converted to Steem and 100 went to fees) or maybe this is just the cost of these transactions but wow! It's expensive! And, i am surprised there's not much talk about this aspect of cryptoland that i can see anyway. Appreciate your insight!
Hi Jill,
You actually live in one of the safest parts of the world for geomagnetic storms and many other global disaster threats. There are a great many secure, often secret facilities for government situated in the high areas of mid to North Canada for this reason.
Wow if Quadriga charged 30% fees that is very bad! I personally would use Binance to buy Steem, Bittrex exchange would be another option, feel free to use my referral links above! There are fees to send from your exchange wallet bittrex was a minimum 5000 satoshi i think. But actually you can send Steem directly to your Steem wallet without using block trades. Here's a guide to do that: https://steemit.com/bittrex/@cryptos/how-to-transfer-steem-from-bittrex-to-steemit-com
The simplest option would be to use Coinbase to buy BTC - link above - and then send via block trades to your Steem account.
If you need any further help or explanation please ask :D
Thank-you so much @icedrum! I hope to be able to buy some more steem soon so will give it a go then. I used litecoin to buy steem the last few times. The fees were from both quadriga & blocktrades. I hope i can get them lowered! Glad i am not in left field thinking that's high. Fingers crossed!
I can't imagine how many secret locations there are around here. There are plenty of strange marked government areas near me and in Saskatchewan. There's one in particular near Prince Albert, SK, the city i grew up close to, that always made me curious. It is marked but it's way in the trees and is called a satellite station.
I had a knowing as a kid (and now) that i lived were it was relatively safe from storms. You just have to handle the -40°c+ that inevitably comes for indefinate amounts of time each winter! It would freeze up our water supply, mainly the drain lines but also the water lines to the cattle when i was a kid. Now, living in town you really get out of touch with how harsh it can be in the countryside.
Enjoy that wonderful Costa Rican weather! Boy it's fantastic there. I hope to get back one day ❤
Hi Jill,
Wow -40°c must be quite an experience! You must all be very professional at dealing with such elemental forces!
Yes we must look into quadriga fees and see where we can save you some money as Blocktrades is actually very reasonable.
Have a great Day :D
