Things you never knew about Shisha (hookah)

In our society today, shishia smoking is a common trend among youths. It is a common trend in parties, club houses, lounges, etc.
Shisha is an Arabic water pipe used for smoking sweet flavored tobacco. Itmay also be called hookah.
However it is often argued that smoking Shisha is less harmful than smoking cigarettes because Shisha comes in many different sweet smelling tobacco flavours such as mint, banana, orange, peach, apples, etc. Which makes smokers feel safe while smoking it, undermining the fact that it still contains tobacco, nicotine, cyanide and other carcinogen.
Also, the fact that tobacco smoke is filtered through cold water while smoking Shisha makes people to feel that it is less harmful than smoking cigarettes.
Contrary to these claims, shishia smoking posses even more threats than cigarette. Bellow are some facts about Shisha which people did not know:
It contains tobacco just like cigarettes.
It has the same effect as smoking cigarettes.
It contains more carbon monoxide than cigarette. It is important that to note that carbon monoxide in the body takes the place of oxygen in red blood cells, which makes it difficult for vital organs of the body to receive oxygen, eventually leading to the damage of these vital organs.
Unlike cigarettes, the smoke from Shisha contains charcoal or wood cinder combustion products as a result of burning the tobacco.
Shisha smoking may result to cancer because it contains significant amounts of nicotine and other costic compounds and metals like tar, carbon monoxide, cobalt lead, etc
It is addictive because of the presence of nicotine and tobacco which causes addiction after several usage.
It may lead to damage of vital organs, which increases the risk of diseases like cancer, heart disease, lung disease, etc
It exposes one to more smoke than cigarette because some of its session lasts up to an hour.
Smoking Shisha during pregnancy puts the unborn baby at risk ( risk of low birth weight and other problems associated with birthing).
Sharing Shisha pipes can lead to the spread of infectious diseases like tuberculosis, hepatitis and herpes.
Above all, the World Health Organization (Who) from its finding and research has warned against Shisha smoking, because a one hour Shisha session is equivalent to smoking hundred cigarettes or more. Which shows that even though the tobacco in Shisha is flavored an may have passed through water, it still contains a high level of cancer-causing chemicals.
