WHAT I WOULD TELL MY SON ABOUT MY CLASS REPRESENTATIVE, OYEWALE SAMUEL
Many seem to have vague intellectual comprehension of what leadership connotes. It is often seen as attainment of a superior position which affords one the opportunity to lead, guide and direct actions of others. NO! If we continue to view leadership with this lens, our vision may remain eternally blurred to see it the way it is seen in advanced societies.
A leader possesses two main qualities: good conduct and promotion of his people's well-being. Good behaviour is the indispensable and determinant in the life of a leader, and it guarantees greatest happiness of the greatest number of his people. In early 2000's political parlance, these two were no where to be found. Although, things have changed but not yet there.
From the gutter most to the uppermost then I was miserably engaged in peripatetic oscillation. I was destined to stumble on a battery of students at a tertiary institution. My pedagogic experience with this group was no difference from academics and intellectual encounter. No single class without myriad of questions that sometimes convulsed me. Leadership then was at its nadir but I (or my class) was fortunate to have a servant as a leader --a rear character--, Oyewale Samuel, a gigantic fellow with raspy voice. He is now the Governor of the once beclouded and now flourishing Oyo State, a pontification of his extraordinary leadership prowess. I know he's gonna be our President sooner rather than later and our nation will change for better.
In conclusion son, no matter where you find yourself, always be of good behaviour. Ìwà rere ni èsó èníyàn - (Good character is a person's jewel) Sùúrù baba ìwà, ìwà baba àwúre - (blessing is the progenitor of character, Character is the progenitor of blessing).
Happy Birthday Bro. Continue to grow and glow in Christ Jesus. Rule your world. I'm sorry it's belated.
