Most times, we get stressed and worn out like Steem solar & electricals manager 😀.

While other times we can be overwhelmed by emotions and situations. This is inevitable in our day-to-day lives as humans, but it can be managed.

In this piece I have outlined ways to ease off the stress.

Mindfulness and meditation are great ways of relaxing, relieving, and controlling stress.

This piece covers what mindfulness and meditation are, how to practice them to relieve stress, and other benefits of mindfulness and meditation. I am so concern about this now in my life.

There is so much hustle and bustle in life that there's not so much calmness and quietness in the world any longer.

There's so much noise and distractions from technology, social media, etc, in the world, and we get tired and stressed in the midst of all this. Have you seen it too...?

Compare reading in a library and reading in a hall where a party is going on.

The level of comprehension and concentration will be different due to the environment. Being mindful can be very difficult due to the environment, but it can be attained if one is very intentional about it.

What is Mindfulness and Meditation?

Mindfulness is the act of being actively involved in the present time, it is the ability to concentrate on the current situation without being carried away.

Oxford Learners Dictionary defines mindfulness as a mental state achieved by concentrating on the present moment while calmly accepting the feelings and thoughts that come to you.

It can be practiced at any point in time, whether walking, talking, eating, in a quiet environment, or even in a noisy environment.

Meditation is a method of being mindful. It could be defined as the act of focusing one's mind for some time, in silence or with the aid of chanting, for religious or spiritual purposes, or as a method of relaxation. Personally, I do this alot.

How we can practice mindfulness and meditation for Stress Relief

As stated earlier, mindfulness can be practiced at any point and time, it can be practiced while walking or moving.

Imagine working for some hours, and there's so much pressure from the work. Indulging in activities such as yoga, and giving it all your attention is a way of practicing mindfulness.

Journaling is an act that brings mindfulness and meditation. Writing about a particular thing makes a person more aware of it, keeping records helps one to know the progress of something and the whole state about it. Hence, one of the reasons I continued with the interview showcase...

If you want to be mindful of your life, Journal your day-to-day activities. That's something like the diarygame that we write here in the blog.

Meditation can be done in the morning or evening after the day's work.

It can be done by simply finding a suitable environment, preferably a quiet environment, and then you start thinking about an object, an idea, or a situation and try to visualize a clear mental picture of that particular thing.

An example is that of the Christians who observed their quiet times, they read their Bible and tried to understand it by asking some questions and trying to figure out the answers.

By doing so, they deduce lessons, and it brings about inner peace, joy, and clarity.

One can just lie down and focus on his/her not necessarily thinking of anything but just paying attention to the breathing movements.

Also, technology has brought so much advancement, like apps that can be used to meditate. There are videos and audio that guide one also to meditate.

Mindful movement: A practical example of this is walking down a path and reminiscing on the beautiful moments you have had or just admiring the beauty of nature. It can help calm the nerves and relax the muscles.

Aside from stress relief, there are other benefits of Mindfulness and Meditation, some of which include:

  • Helping one avoid negative habits by learning to observe others through thoughtfulness, emotions, and other present-moment experiences without judging or reacting.
  • It brings about more productivity as one is focused on a particular task at hand. A student who is mindful of his studies and is not carried away by extracurricular activities or other activities such as business would concentrate on his studies, which is the phase in his life the student will graduate with good grades.
  • It helps one overcome procrastination and maintain discipline.
  • It helps one to connect deeper with his/herself.

It fuels creativity. As I write this article I have gotten a lot of ideas because I am actively involved in it.

Considering these benefits, it can bring some sense of fulfillment. Having some sense of fulfillment can relieve stress and make one elated.

Mindfulness and Meditation are skills we should inculcate in our daily lives to ease and manage stress, and it will make our lives better and more comfortable.
