There are numerous articles written on how to over come self doubt and build confidence most centering around the concept of believing in your self and the sky being your limit.



Very few of these articles provide practical steps to achieving this rather sensitive topic.


To start with, for you to want to have a look at this article and read up to this point, it can relatively mean you have some level of self doubt about your self and although that can be considered natural in some instances, it is a rather negative view to have of oneself which I'm certain you are already aware of.



Steps to overcoming selfdoubt:

🔆 The first step which I must commend you for is admitting there's a problem and seeking out a solution which you have done by opening up this article.

Self denial is one cloak difficult to take off oneself obviously because it provides a false shield but there is only so far self denial can take you to.



🔆 Try achieving small tasks: It is popularly known as "small drops of water can make an ocean"* although I personally can't imagine how that would ever be possible but I guess that is the idea behind exaggerations.

With the phrase above, you can completely agree with me that fulfilling numerous little tasks can result in being confident enough to take on something bigger.

I remember the first time I made a meal - rice and stew ( this was the choice meal because it was supposed to be the easiest meal to prepare).

I was careful about my meal preparation following each step my mum had written the day before.

I was nervous no doubt, I mean, this was the meal I was going to be serving my parents which would determine if I did it well or not.

Yet even with how careful I was, my rice turned out to be watery and salty 🤣 because I put in too much water to boil the rice because I didn't want the rice to turn out uncooked and the stew was too oily because while I was frying the tomato, the oil disappeared.😀

Everyone ate the meal with knowing smiles on their faces that my meal was not the most standard but no one said anything derogatory about it which would lead me to the next step to overcoming self doubt and building confidence.



🔆 Surround yourself with positive energy: It is hard to feel any good about yourself or feel like you are totally worthless when the company you keep make it their mission to downgrade whatever efforts you make.

Imagine after my oily stew of a meal, my family laughed in my face and rejected my food (which I would understand any way but then not many people can handle rejection effectively), the next line of action would have been to stop making meals which again leads me to the next point.



🔆 Practice definitely makes perfect: I'm a testament to this fact. I got better at cooking because after my oily stew incident, I was conscious about making sure I involved in any cooking process at home...some 5 years and 2 months later, the only difference between me and any top notch chef in the classiest restaurant is the fact that I don't wear an apron to cook.🤷‍♂️

🔆 Celebrate your little wins: Yes, you don't have to wait till it's your big win or you finish that 8 year degree or you get married or you pass to the great beyond before you have a celebration...as little as making it to the end of the week, passing a test or joining the sun club like @chriddi just did 😀 - should be celebrated.

That way you are more excited to complete other tasks and build your confidence in the process.



🔆 Look good: This is my all time favorite. It's hard to have any confidence when you don't feel or look good about yourself and no I'm not talking about getting a plastic surgery to change your facial structure or body size...., I am not a good fan of any of those stuffs though.

Looking good can be as simple as having good hygiene, washing your clothes - other than confidence, you can save yourself the stress of manifesting diseases that thrive in poor hygiene and believe me, they are numerous.

In order to augment the washing clothes, you can go as far as using body deodorant. This work effectively to prevent body odour.


These are just a few but practical steps to achieveing the confidence and ridding yourself of self doubt.


If you start with these, soon enough you'll be the one giving advice on how to be confident and they'd be no greater joy than seeing you progress to the confident wonderful personality you were created to be!
