When you think you are the best, you stop working to become the best. When you stop trying to achieve, you start rolling downhill. The first step to success is to understand that there is always room for improvement.

Valentine's day is just around the corner, so this just feels like perfect timing. I felt enlightened today, and I would like to share what I have learned. As a quick backstory, I sat in on a guest speaker who is passionate about helping others and talking about his experiences. I learned A Little Something about the big word LOVE and I AM SO EXCITED to share because I found it so eye-opening. Enjoy :)

The three levels of love:

  • Level One -
Finding common ground with someone and being friends. Here we usually connect based on common grounds and interact in such a way where no one gets hurt. I see this is how most people want their life to take place since having to conflict is very easy to go about. Furthermore, if people develop conflict, then they tend to put up walls and distance themselves from those individuals.
  • Level Two -
Caring for them. When you care about someone else’s well-being, you are going to be invested in their life and this will bring you two closer together. Caring and being nice is easy. They are easy because there is very little emotional tension involved.
  • Level Three -
Challenging your partner. This comes with great risk, and one must feel very comfortable and know the other person very well because this can hurt a friendship. When you are about someone, you should want to make him or her a better person, this means that you should be able to talk to him or her in an educational manner in order to develop his or her character. To do this, you must be able to tell them that their behavior is not ideal and how to change, this is very hard. When one is able to do such a thing, this communicates that this is a serious friendship/relationship and it can better everyone involved in the long run.

Therefore, there are three stages of love and achieving true love is very difficult because in today’s society, many think they are already perfect. People take criticism poorly since we have been told to believe over and over again that we are perfect the way we are. I learned today that the first step to improving yourself is to acknowledge that you are not perfect and to be willing to develop your character. These powerful words have stayed with me “When you think you are the best, you stop working to become the best. When you stop trying to achieve, you start rolling downhill. The first step to success is to understand that there is always room for improvement.”
