What is the pain point?

The biggest fear of every modern person is loosing their mobile phone. Not only our phones are keeping all of our personal informations such as fotos, memos, recordings, online accounts to private and work E-Mails or social media but also apps allowing direct access to our bank accounts and life savings. The list of vulnerable data that can be accessed from our phones can be grow and grow since the usage of a mobile phone nowadays is quite personalized and offers a vast pallette of choices. Losing it or even worse, geting it stolen, can lead to loss of important and sensitive data but also can make you exposed to further misdeeds .

Although there are multiple apps claiming to be able to help you find your phone once you lost it, we all know that they are efficient only if the phone is switched on or if the person who finds it will be kind enough to give it back. On the other hand If the mobile phone is stolen the chances of you geting it back are not as high as you might wish.

How could this pain point be reduced or eliminated in a blockchain-world?

With distributed ledger technology or better know blockchain the tech companies producing mobile phones and all other types of gadgets connected to you digital life, could simply integrate those gadgets with an unique codes which then can be linked and stored directly on the blockchain. Everytime a new user acquires the phone or the gadget, regardless if it is a first buy or a resale, he will simply have to link the phone to his digital world by activating a smart contract transaction. With this kind of process each phone will always be automaticly linked and personalized to its user. If lost or stolen no one else will be able to use it since the phone number is unique and the old owner has not authorised the transaction.

Stealing a phone or a gadget linked to your digital persona will be a thing of the past. Losing it of course could still happen, you should in general take care of your belongings, but this worrying feeling that someone might have gained access to your personal life will be a thing of the past. Unlocking the phone without being its owner means beaing able to decipher the SHA 256 hashtag function, which probably wont be possible any time soon. The chances of someone finding it and giving it back to you are much higher, since without your authorisation the phone is simply a small box with a black screen.
