I never knew Nnedi has a short memoir written. I got to found out from wordsmithpraise (an instagram friend of my) (Nnedi happens to be among his fav authors), thanks to book_elocutionist (a fellow book lover on instagram).

📖
Nnedi takes us on the story about her life, growing up, encounters (good, bad and ugly), family (not excluding extended).
She tells us, the incident that gave birth to her sci-fiction/fantasy writing.

Like other black, she faced the issue of racism outside the country (in Chicago) --which I don't know why, surprises me.
While growing up she was hospitalized due to a health issue (scoliosis). Remembering the memories she had and her current state as at that period, she thought about creative minds (artists and authors) whom in their ugly condition and limitation used the pain as a means to fuel their work.

Putting all the stories and incidents together she discovered her own self and a truth which is, what we see as limitations have the potential to become our greatest strength.

It's a book that teaches a lesson on minding opening to other opportunities not minding the state you are in.
