Book Review: Such A Fun Age.

Here's a story of two different ladies (Emira and Alix) caught up in a past and present incident.

Photo Taken By Me

Emira Tucker, a young black woman and part-time babysitter for Mr&Mrs Chamberlain was involved in an incident at the grocery store on the night she took their two years old toddler Briar, to the store- (on heels and had already consumed some amount of alcohol at the party) so as to give her parents chance to sort out a situation with the police.
Alix Chamberlain, a middle age white successful business woman whom from an event of the past while she was in high school, led her to carry out an underground motive which in turn, caused a different turn around of event for everyone.

Such A Fun Age is a read that centers on family, relationship, racism, friendship, privilege, power, narcissism, domestic work, motherhood, class and social norms, and how wealth can affect one's life.

This read, gives us a picture of how blacks are manipulated by the white folks.
Shows how some men uses women to validate themselves.
Shows the height and length some people can go in other to keep things and the atmosphere suitable for their condition, thereby sabotaging conditions of others.

Such A Fun Age is an easy read with complex characters that gets more developed the further you dig in.
It shows the different versions of a black girl.
At first I felt I was reading biography of Alix and I was like okay, let's see how it all goes down. As you get to turn the pages, the more it unveils.

Though, the ending was all rushy.

I loved the way Alix was able to disconnect Emira and Kelley but not the way she did it.
I thought about the discussion Emira took and then all that comes to my mind was that cliché saying "Every disappointment is a blessing 🤷".

The two years old toddler Briar (girlllllll 💅🏽) is my fav ever, she's a whole vibe at such a young age.

I recommend this book for an easy read and brilliant read.
