Octopus is marine molluscs who has soft body and eight flexible arms. They belong to the order Octopoda and class Cephalopoda. There are 300 species of octopus in the world and they inhabited various regions of the ocean. Some of them also known as “monster of the deep” because they live at the depth of 4.000 to 6.000 m in the ocean. All of them are venomous but there is just one known to be deadly to humans.
Octopus is a carnivorous invertebrate who love to eat shrimps, crabs, and lobsters. Each species can grow into various maximum size. The smallest octopus, Octopus wolfi, can grow up to 2,5 cm with the body weight around 1 g. The largest species, the Giant pacific octopus, commonly have the maximum size of 4,3 m with the weight of 15 kg. Some of them can grow larger than their common size. It is believed that their life span are around 3 to 5 years.
Octopus have a rounded body. They have bulging eyes which located on top of their body. Their beak is located in the center of their arms. It is used to crush their food into smaller pieces so they will be able to eat it. Their arms are full of circles. This circles have the ability to stick on something which allow them to have a strong grip to move under the sea or to catch the prey.
