LOST TV Series (watching in 2018)

in #lost7 years ago (edited)

Recently I have been watching the TV series LOST. I remember around 2004 when it first came out and I watched it on tv following it every week which now that I look back, you had to wait a week to watch an episode. Now that the whole series is on Netflix it is amazing. I am currently up to season 4, I went through season 1 and 2 like it was nothing. This is not a joke I can't believe how captivating and good the series is. The character development, the story telling, the background stories. I only just realise the producer was no other than J.J. Abrams, back into 2004-2006 I kept up with it but lost interest. I am now going to watch the whole series because I have come to the realisation of the shows great impact on human relationship. The shows theme is not only serious but also funny at times with mystery, suspense and also horror. It has everything and I believe you can watch it many times and will pick ups on clues and certain connections to each characters. If LOST was a tv show in 2018, it would rival that of GOT9 (Game of Thrones). I would say that it is better than Breaking Bad. Ive seen in many of the episode the special attention to detail, the connection of each characters to little things that can be seen in the background. I kept thinking how did the writers manage to create everything without getting confused and keeping it consistent, in context and leaving not a lot of plot holes. The show is still relevant even in when I am watching it now in 2018.

These are a list of my favourite characters in terms of acting skills and character development.

John Locke
Locke I think reaches out to most people being that he is inherently good person but somehow stuck in not having the capabilities to be more than who he really is. We can see this as his life outside the island versus on the island. He was just a average person, working for as a regional sales officer for a box company. Then we find out his relationship with his father who cause him to be in a wheelchair. The main theme of Locke is being able to do something what ever that was, and not letting anyone tell him what he can't do. What was holding him back was needing that love from his father There are many things I can't talk about but this is just a short summary.

James Ford (Sawyer)
I think Sawyer is one of the funniest characters on LOST I don't know how the writers come up with the funny one liners but dam its good. Josh Halloway who played the character acting skills for this is perfect. The outlandish, badmouth, bad boy persona really hits the nail in the coffin. His is know as a 'confidence man' I did not know that this is a term for a con man. We can see that Sawyer is what you see is what you get, selfish, loves only himself, cares only for himself and like he always says in the series he's only doing things to "survive". We can see that in the flashbacks most of his conning came from the fact that his mother was conned by a man, that we later found out was Locke's father. Swayers father at that time found out that his mother has lost all the money so he killed Swayer's mother than killed himself. Sawyer was only a child but latter found out that the man that conned his mother went by an alias of Tom Sawyer and gave himself that name. Knowing one day that he will find this man who ruined his life by killing his parents. We can see that during Swayer's time on the island we start to see his shift towards being their for people, helping can caring and even loving someone (Kate).
He's someone who does not get emotional, does not want anyone to know he cares and puts up this wall that he does not need anyone and only looks out for himself.

Kate Austen
The main female lead and protanganist. What can I say about Evangeline Lilly, she is one of the most beautiful actress I have ever seen. She plays her character to the tee. Many past problems haunts her as she has always been on the run. On the fun from the fact that she blew up a house with her step-dad in it, which did not sit very well with her real mother. Its easy to see that its hard for Kate to really love anyone because she has cause so much grief for many people in her life but has always done things in her own way, a rebel with a troubled past. The love triangle between her Sawyer and Jack is brilliant, its not hard to see how you feel that she loves both of them but in different ways and that on the island she can kinda stop running. I think a lot of the characters see this in themselves that crashing on the island as crazy as it sounds was inherently a good thing. Indirectly yes but their have been deaths and problems in the island, but thats whats makes the series so interesting. Kate is smart, sexy, cunning and dangerous. She is able to take care of herself, cares for others but at the same time can be independent and almost selfish is she wanted to.

Iam writing this at a point where I am only up to season 4 but I am sure there are more clues to unfold. I did not include Jack because his the main character that I find tiresome. His a boring character which is a hero chapter and hero are boring.
