BIG OL' JOHN
Poets are like chameleons
For they take different forms as they please
A poet is a prisoner who explains freedom than a freeman
He is a lover, who could teach even the cold-hearted hatred.
Here's is the legend of a poet,
A man with a tiny body, like the pen with which he wrote,
Yet spoke big words, from a big mouth, housed by a big head
Hence, we called him; BIG OL' JOHN.
Like every poet, BIG OL' JOHN had a muse, Cecilia
Cecily misa misa, she was actually everyman's muse
Causing even the dumbest men to chant whatever comes to their heads
For everywhere she walked,
Lustful eyes of men walked with her
"Your skin is as clear as the skies after a turbulent rain"
"Your eyes are golden, piercing with the glory of the sun"
"The waist beads curls firmly on your hips, like a snake, in its castle"
"Your lips are like the petals of an hibiscus,
sending me into basorexia"
Those were the words of BIG OL' JOHN
Like the songs of Solomon to the Shulamite girl
His, were words of John, to Cecilia, Cecily misa misa!!
"Twirl, Cecilia, Twirl!!"
"Twirl your waist, like an angry fire twirls"
"Look, Cecilia, Look!!"
"Look into my eyes with your golden gaze"
"Look so deep, let it cut through the cords of my heart"
"And your heart shall indeed cut away!!!"
"You foolish, old dwarf!!!"
"What on earth made you think, I, Cecily misa misa-
would fall for your cheap, banal, drivel?!!"
"I, Cecily misa misa, Lady of immeasurable beauty, is for noble men, not old, trash-mouthed dwarf like you!!"
BIG OL' JOHN must have felt thunder strike through his ears
His insulted physique he could bear,-
but his ridiculed words, that was too much for him.
So he says;
"Indeed your beauty is incomparable, but your heart, is uglier than myself"
"Your eyes may be golden, yes, piercing!-
yet, they are blind to the nobility of a poet"
"Your wisdom seems to have been plaited with your braids-
such that your sense seem to be withheld from you"
"Your lips are as beautiful as the hibiscus,-
but it spews words, as unclean as the dirt beneath my shoes"
"Indeed, I'm a foolish man"
"For what would a poet do with a daft listener like you?"
"A thoughtless muse is useless to a poet-
just as a fishing net is to a lion Hunter"
"May your legs, which are actually longer than each other, never cross my path again!!!"
Now listen to me family, friends and foe
Come closer people, young and old
Hold these words firmly in your hands;
"Whatever you do, never get a poet angry"
For his lips will burn you faster than the fire of ṣàngó
He'll spit venom, poisonous than that of the rattlesnake
His hands with make lethal gestures like the claws of a black panther
I say this again;
"whatever you do, never get a poet angry"
For you'll wither away in his verses and die in his words.
