Online dating for dummies: Introduction

Hey guys! My name is Paul and this is my 1st post. I'm an engineering student and a VicePresident for a NGO.
I want to start a guide about dating. I had my strugles years ago and right now, after reading a lot and going trough a lot of relationships, I put up some steps for the ones that were like me. Strugling. This will be the 1st guide.
I will post more in the future so stay tuned :)

Step #1: Know your target

Research a litlle about the girl you want to start talking with. Look up at a few posts, pictures and descriptions. That should be enough for you to have an idea about what you should talk with her about. Here's an example:

Katie posts pictures with dogs on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. A way to approach her is to comment on a picture asking info about the breed, dog's name or even how old is it.

Don't be a creep or a stalker! Don't even think about saying: "Hey! I've seen you post about dogs weekly so I wanted to tell you I love dogs too!" That is how blocking works haha.

If you can't seem to find something relevant then say Hello and be creative. Lots of girls or guys tend to be sick of small talks. A way to prevent them is to ask important questions(important for them). An example in Katie's case would be what breed would you like to own?

Step#2: Listen

After you've made contact with the person you like it's easy to learn more about them.
Just listen and keep in mind any relevent information like a love for avocados. This way you'll be able to propose something later on much easier.
In this step it's important to learn as much as you can about the person you like.
This way you will know what topics to bring up when you'll meet them.
Don't go to far and ask about family, lovers, future and so. Those are reserverd for face-to-face talks.
