Remember Classic records? If you have any you may be sitting on some money.
Back in the early 2000"s Classic records was a company that took their LP's very seriously. Being a guy who has always been into music I have to say that some of their re-releases had to be the finest ever pressed. They specialized in 200 gram LP's which were thicker than a standard record that most of us are familiar with. The theory was a thicker record meant a deeper grove with more information and dynamic range. If you look at any standard record there is a small lip right at the outer edge that was done purposely to keep pressure even on the hot vinyl l during the pressing process. Classic was trying to develop a completely flat pressing for fidelity reasons. The first generation pressings were in a loose bag (shrink wrap can warp records). I own several of these Who's Next being one and it is like hearing it for the first time its that good. Unfortunately they ran into issues with the flat pressings and ultimately switched to a process with the lip at the edge of the record while maintaining the 200 gram format but the damage to their reputation was done. The company went out of business in the late 2000's. The second generation releases are in a clear acrylic bag with at seal at the top. Many of these pressings are selling for big numbers. Interestingly enough the first generation LP's seem to bring more money even with their flaws than the second generation because of their rarity. Check out Ebay and similar sites. You may be surprised at the prices.
