The Brussels minister who puts his entire ,500 5,500 salary into bitcoin on the first of every month sits down with Cointelegraph to discuss bitcoin.
Christophe de Beaucleus was the first European politician to convert his entire salary into bitcoin. He embarked on the 2022 journey with bold initiatives, hoping to raise awareness about Bitcoin and alternative financial models, financial education and public speaking.
De Bouquel first entered Bitcoin and blockchain in 2017 and predicted a future where Bitcoin and cryptocurrency would play a role as rivals in the traditional financial world. He gave an interview to Cointelegraph to delve deeper into his vision for Bitcoin and his motivation behind paying for Bitcoin.
When asked how long it took to get caught up with Bitcoin and get down to the rabbit hole, de Bouquel said not taking the time to learn the protocol is one of our biggest risks in Europe at the moment. He explained:
Politicians do not take time on this journey. They are very busy with the day-to-day administration of cities and countries, but they do not stop and say, OK, what is happening now? What big evolution is coming in the next 10, 20, 50 years? And that's the job.
