Lucid dreaming, part 3
First of all, sorry for not posting the last weeks, I have very much to do at the time, but I will try to be more consistent in the future.
I now have more than 250 followers! I really appreciate your support!
In this text, I will not write about lucid dreaming in particular, but more dreaming in general. I will look into the reasons why we dream, why sleep paralysis occurs and why some of us are aware that we are dreaming. I will consult both the science community and spiritualists.
Scientists have just started figured out why we sleep, and we have clearly still a lot to learn. Especially when it comes to dreaming. We know that we the . And we know that some people remember their dreams, while other forgets them. In 1975 Lucid dreaming was scientifically proven for the first time in history. In other words, we know that it happens, but still lacks the understanding of why it happens.
The evolution of our understanding of dreams
Humans have been dreaming for millions of years. Many other animals are dreaming too. In many cultures, dreaming has been seen as a spiritual experience. It has been used to prophesize, talk with the dead, and generally communicate with the world of spirits. Sleep paralysis, the original nightmare, was thought to be caused by an evil spirit, a mare. In Norwegian it is called "Mareritt", translated mare riding, the mare is riding you. Even today some people believe that sleep paralysis is caused by evil spirits. Who knows, maybe they are right?
Science has another explanation in regards to sleep paralysis. Every time you enter REM (Rapid Eye Movement), the body is paralyzed. In a few cases, your brain may wake up while your body is still asleep. Since your body is still asleep, you will often hallucinate. The combination of dreaming and consciousness will give you a feeling of seeing this entity in your own room, while you are stuck in your bed. It is absolutely safe, and nothing can hurt you. Knowing all of this helped be combating my own fairs of sleep paralysis, many years ago. On the rare occasions that I get them today, I really enjoy it.
That's all for this time, next week I will interview a new age spiritualist, and ask him what he thinks about dreaming. Write a comment down below to tell me what you think, and don't forget to follow if you want to receive a notification when I publish my next post. Until next time, bye!

It needs quite an effort to reach lucidity in dreaming
Yeah, it certainly does, but it's worth it
