MACROPHOTOGRAPHY - photographing a jumping spider

in #macro7 years ago

Hello fellow photography lovers!

Today I want to share with you some macro shots of a jumping spider, that was secretly hiding out in my room for many months. It's extremely difficult to photograph jumping spiders, because they get scared easily, move fast and suddenly, and are small enough that a millimeter of movement will throw your picture of out focus.

You can say, that she kind of was my pet, since I didn't throw her out.

Caught her lurking on my sock

Many photos failed, because they were mostly out of focus or she moved enough that the lighting was not perfect anymore. So photographing jumping spiders is really trial and error. But do it often, and you can nail most of the photos.

I do have to say your DOF is excellent. The compositions are good. The only thing is that there is no habitat in your images that would be a next level. I also made some images over time from jumping spiders. If they are alive it is very hard to make images as above. That is why i quit photographing most of tiny bugs. Most people freeze or kill them. Just for that image. That is not the way to go. Hope you appreciate my critiquing.
