Thursday Macro Photography: With a single drop of venom...

in #macrophotography7 years ago (edited)

The Buthus ibericus is an iberian scorpion species, endemic to Portugal and western Spain.
This beautiful specimen was photographed in the Alentejo region (southern Portugal).

With a little luck, I was able to photograph a drop of venom trickling down the stinger of this fearless friend!

Usually its color is black

There are numerous species of scorpion... Of many colors, also. There are even blue ones! Maybe in southwest Asia is black is its normal color, but not in Europe. Here they are yellow-brown or even golden ;)
Cheers
