Software Developers are the Magicians of today
Programming is just like magic. Programmers are always looking for new tricks to improve their craft and be able to conjure up new things. Magicians are constantly harassed by muggles to perform magic for them. Programmers create using nothing but their thoughts, and coordinated strokes to the keyboard.
If you are able to write code, you will know what I mean, my fellow magician.
I think the "magicians" of software are the security researchers and hackers. They often can make things happen that nobody thought was possible. They can bend code to their will through their "arcane" knowledge of the systems involved. I've attended defcon (major hacker conference) a few times and I never leave without being legitimately, jaw-drop-wowed at least a few times.
