Home and Apps Problem With LG Smart 3D TV with Magic Remote Control
I have a LG Smart TV with 3D capabilities with is operated with a LG Magic remote .
Model -Type :47LM6200-UE , Software Version: 06.05.07, Sdk version : 02.08., Operating System developed: NetCast
Two days back we watched a movie in Amazon prime APP on the LG Home Screen.Only after few minutes passed problem started.
After that my SMART TV started to act weird by not responding to some functions when pressed. I thought my SMART TV software was corrupted due to some virus or may be a bug related to above software version as installed and also came to a conclusion that somebody hacked my TV too.
The same day the home button on Magic Remote when pressed which lands us on the Home screen where you can see all your installed apps on your Smart TV stopped working. Even when home button on magic remote pressed several times nothing is happening(no response).
-> On the Magic remote the off button working fine which turns of the Smart TV
-->When moving magic remote you can see the cursor pointer on the Smart TV moving along with it.
--> The channel movement button on Magic remotes responds and works fine too when pressed.
-->The Sound button on Magic Remote responds and works fine too
-->All the 3D , the sideways movement buttons works fine.
The problem started right here where the Home button On MAGIC REMOTE when pressed which displays the Apps installed on the SMART TV does not display any APPS.
The Scroll and select wheel in the middle when pressed numerous times does do any action as it supposed to.
Confused and did do all of the below actions to see if my TV works fine:
1)So i thought battery power is low in magic remote and changed to new batteries but the above problem still exist.
2)On the TV far right in the front by using UP/Down ,+/- buttons in SETTING button scrolled down to options>initialize and did the reset to factory settings and did follow the procedure screen by screen to set it up to normal working condition but still the above problem existed.
Form the same SETTING as mentioned in above point 2 procedure i went to Support Tab and wrote down some of the information from PRODUCT/SERVICE info and finally called the LG SUPPORT 1-800-243-0000 . After 9 minutes of wait customer service representative answered my call .
I tried to do the UN-register and register the Magic remote control as suggested on their website, but my magic remote didn't respond that great. Some functions on the remote are working fine and other or not as explained in above paragraph.
I gave him all the trouble shooting steps i did above, gave him the model and software version, told him what i am not able to do and explained him the problem started all of a sudden in few minutes .
He did asked me to select the SETTING button on right side of the TV which displayed the setting screen on the TV. Then asked me to press BACK button on the MAGIC remote . When pressed i said the setting screen displayed on the TV got vanished. He finally came to a conclusion that some of the functions on the MAGIC REMOTE are not working while other are . I expressed to him it was weird that magic remote is doing that.
Finally he asked to buy a new MAGIC REMOTE and gave the parts supplier number in eastern Area which is 18004328542.
I asked him is there any app that i can install on my phone to control my SMART TV. He said that the TV GUI that was developed by NETCAST does not support those apps . But in LG smart tv where TV GUI was developed using WEBOS, they have some apps that you can install on your mobile phone and control your TV.
I have to tell you one interesting point here. I do purchased a 3 YEAR extended service plan when i brought the TV on top of free warranty given by LG . To my LUCK my extended warranty plan ended in October 2017 but my TV started giving trouble in JAN 2018. See WOW what a luck and timing isn't. From the Support Screen on your SMART TV you can see how much is TOTAL USED TIME . Mine is very low.
I spent too much time trying to figure out what happened. May be this article will help few readers. Thanks for reading.
