PLAYLIST : Running Free (Formerly New Beginnings)
RT: 38 mins
LOCATION: Canyon Dr.
Strain: KNBIS Gelato OG (An Indica dominant Hybrid, provided by Kushfly.com in Southern, CA)
Rating: Three and a half buds

Tonight I'm out on another run with my bud G, doing the usual Canyon Dr. route. I felt this time around it might be nice to elaborate on the discussion of weed strains seeing as it's such a predominant element in my workout.

Eventually, I want to get to the point where I'm sampling different strains during my runs and combining them with particular #playlists to hit the sweet spot of work outs. Perhaps I'll be able to recommend certain combinations of both but, that's a little down the line. I'm still in the alpha stages of this practice. Along the way I had the idea that I should start a rating system for these strains. I give this one 3.5/5 buds:

So far my rating system is based on any concrete rubric however, as I start to build this blog up I'll have a better understanding of the choice to rate something one way or another. Gelato feels like a 3.5 bud strain. It's good but, it could be better kind of deal. The high tires out quickly and I've often felt on this strain that this thing is about to end before it even started. Don't get me wrong, it's certainly a smooth ride but, it dies down on the back end. This has been an issue with a couple strains I've tried and for this reason, I've recently considered taking some edibles along with the initial toke in order to create a time capsule of energy down the road.

As for the #playlist this session, I made some edits to the Running Free #playlist, formerly known as New Beginnings. Here's tonights lineup:

  1. Hunnybee by Unknown Mortal Orchestra

  2. Hearts by Patrick Watson (New Addition!)

  3. Prom Night by Anamanaguchi

  4. The World At Large by Modest Mouse

  5. Float On by Modest Mouse

  6. Honey Honey by Feist (Parked in the number six spot after Pumped Up Kicks couldn't cut it).

  7. Atoms For Peace by Thom Yorke (This one landed flat last session. Let's see how it holds up).

  8. Florida by Animal Collective (This seems to be my new point of no return).

  9. Has Ended by Thom Yorke (I promptly skipped this last session but, after some experimentation felt that I might want to give it another chance in a different part of the line up).

  10. Sealion by Feist (This is a winner for sure but, like I mentioned last session not strong enough for an ending. It lands at around the forty-five minute mark).

  11. Hell Yes by Beck (Not sure about this one. This is definitely an experiment).

  12. Fantasy by Mariah Carey (Another one of those not sure of).

  13. Deadweight by Beck

  14. Bodysnatchers by Radiohead (This has got to be an ending to a long #playlist).

Anyway, here we go:

I like this first one. Sort of makes me look like it belongs to the #playlist, "Running Ghost". Been awhile since I checked this one out.

This was a shot taken right after the run. I couldn't finish the damn thing this night around. Got to the point of no return, which, in tonight's case, was Animal Collective's Florida. There were a few too many negative factors that led to this being a bad night, so I quit halfway through and turned back. It's funny when you see one thing after another telling you to turn back. At one point in the beginning, I saw another runner's earbuds on the ground, like they had gotten snatched up by something or someone. That set the mood for the rest of the run.

As for the song choices, I think we are on the right track with Running Free which I might relabel to #rundance. I like the name of this #Rundance, like Sundance. I might call it Rundance Foostival, like Sundance Festival but, that's up for some more exploration for sure.

As usual, if you have a song suggestion or have a story about your own #rundance or #playlist, share it here. That is, if Steem is still around after the bloodbath that happen today across the crypto market.

Sort:

Beauty work getting in the right headspace for a solid workout. Finding that state where you can just focus on and enjoy the effort.

Keen to see how the #rundance foostival evolves! Cheers!

Agreed @exhaust. This regiment has been quite rewarding. Not trying to lose weight or anything but, it's like some kind of holy experience almost. I look forward to it which was usually never the case while running. I'll keep updating on #Rundance. Thanks for the comment!
