Gone to Pot Retirement Home Concept

This grew because a seed was planted.

This article was produced by Evan Porter on September 8th and it features the work of Jean Makesh who is the CEO of  Assisted Living from Ohio. Take a look, it's worth the short read and I think it's fantastic!

About two weeks ago, I wrote a blog post about the Perfect Trifecta: An Aging Population, Medical Cannabis and Cryptocurrency and posted it on Steemit.

In it, I suggested that based on the statistics facing North America in the next 25 years, 60 million North Americans will be over the age of 65 and that we will have a growing population segment who will have assisted living, medical and financial needs.

Their biggest concerns will be controlling inflammation-based disease and having enough money to afford to live their remaining days peacefully, comfortably and safely.

I think a retirement facility that is designed to allow people to live, like they do now before assisted care is needed, in single family dwellings is the way of  the retirement future. My hat goes off to Jean Makesh for turning retirement facility design on its head.

I would leap-frog off his design and build a square facility so that each unit could have access to a secure court-yard with grass and gardens. This would let residents grow gardens and even their own medical cannabis which would be used as medicine to effectively treat disease and provide pain-relief as needed. (While, also keeping people safe and from wandering off in confusion or fear.)

I would also ensure that each unit was suitably outfitted with computer access so that all the residents could access the internet whenever they wanted to and that all of these things could be paid for by a cryptocurrency, like Steemit.

I can envision a wonderful sense of community, where neighbours happily live side by side, have the level of care they need, have a hand in growing their own medicine and if they run out of money to pay for it, they can simply blog on Steemit to settle their bill.

It's a place I'd like to retire to, when the time comes. I have planted the seed.

Great Idea :) CBD, mixed with other cannabinoids, is awesome for the aging (Contrary to popular info, cbd by itself is not as effective)

I'm working on spreading the word on how to grow awesome cannabis. Perhaps some of that information will be used in your 'future' home. :)

This is a fantastic photo! Just look at all those crystals and beautifully coloured hairs.
Do you want to be the specialist in cannabis botany?
I'm certain we can piece together all the skills required to get this facility built through teamwork on Steemit. :)

Thank you ;)

I've dedicated 15 years to cannabis. I don't see that trend changing any time soon. I most likely would have never grown cannabis, if clean cannabis medicines had been available off the shelf for my lifetime. Without cannabis I'm pretty much worthless to myself and everyone around me. lol Too much pain, too many mental issues, too much anxiety.

You are describing a true endocannabinoid deficency that is greatly helped by cannabinoids. You are lucky to have this plant as part of your lifestyle. Is it legal where you live yet?

I have asperger's and physical pain issues. They pretty much overwhelm me without cannabinoids, yep :)

Yes, I live in Colorado. The changes here since A64 went through are amazing. The information about using cannabis as an exit-herb has helped many people. The state just made it legal for people on probation/parole to use cannabis. They have to have a medical card, but it's a start. :)

The interesting thing is nearly EVERYONE in the world used to have a great deal more CBD in their systems. Why? Cows used to eat hemp as part of their diet, now our govts have saved us from this travesty by eliminating feral hemp across the land. A great deal of it anyway.

Good days are coming to the world. ;)

Thanks @thecleangame! I completely agree. CBD for daytime. THC for a good night sleep before bed. I want a facility like this to be built because I know I will need to continue to medicate for the rest of my life. Currently, I am not aware of any facility that even supports the use of medical cannabis and if they did, the quality of life for those folks could be drastically improved.

Actually, CBD and THC don't have an effect on how sleepy you are. It's the terpenes. This is why a 10%cbd/24%THC indica has completely different effects than the exact same ratio in a sativa strain. Any use of CBD should include THC as well, otherwise you end up with the bell curve effect with plain CBD. I use only sativa strains and sativa dominant hybrids, for treating my pain and autism.

You'll be seeing cannabis friendly homes in colorado before long, I'm sure. Since it's legal here for anyone over 21, all it takes is a facility to make the decision. No extra paperwork required. ;)

I typically use Indicas for night-time. I have to be up over 20% THC for my body to be able to sleep. I have tried a lot of combinations of CBD% and THC% over the years and like select indicas, sativas and hybrids for specific applications. My preferred method of ingestion is eating medium chain triglyceride infused coconut oil. Everything determined by trial and error for my body, over time. I agree with using the whole plant profile. Terpenes and flavinoids do not get the recognition that they deserve.

Interesting, when I use indicas at night I have hangovers in the morning. lol

Have you tried using olive or ghee as your carrier oil? You may be the right blood type for coconut, most people are not. I know my body does not digest coconut oil very well at all, so putting the cannabinoids into it just locks it away from my body. lol

Terpene research is continually bringing amazing things to light. I read myrcene at greater than .05% (? Might be .5%) is what makes a strain start 'feeling' like an indica. The terpene homulene has been linked to being 'not good' for people with seizure issues, found in Kush and strains with Kush lineage. Explains why I've always had issues with kush. lol

Cannabis is simply amazing. Cannabinoids affect every cell in the body, unlike any other plant on the earth.

That's incredible info! It's so odd, I work with a lot of Canandian Veterans, (I'm located in Canada) and all Kush Strains and high % CBDs are what is working for the effective treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. People are literally chasing Kush strains and any high CBD strain across the country. We are having huge crop management issues as we only have 34 Health Canada sanctioned growers across our country who are supplying 70,000 patients. The number of medical cannabis patients has doubled in less than a year and there isn't any sign that the avalanche is going to slow down. Full legalization has been promised by our government by Apr. 2017. I can see a day that strains will be grown and customized specifically for individual diseases. The coconut oil I use is medium chain. It doesn't contain very much long chain and as a result absorbs very easily and quickly. I have tried both olive and ghee but prefer the mct coconut. I have used cannabis to successfully keep multiple sclerosis in remission for the last 8 years.
